But if you want to support us
☕ Buy us a coffeeWorking from home is great! Fresh food on the cheap, time with your family or pets and loads of other perks. But the one thing it’s missing is those connections that help keep you on task. With Focus 101, we’ve created a community of doers with one mission: to help you work smarter with an accountability partner.
We’re a community AND a platform! When you join, you’ll be connected with reformed procrastinators from all over and have access to our amazing scheduling and web conferencing tool with a built-in white noise machine for premium co-working & body doubling vibes.
Start doing more in 4 easy steps:
One of the initial steps to correcting behavior you are not happy with through CBT is to make yourself accountable to someone.
Getting a buddy helps you do this if you’re struggling to complete tasks.
When you block off that time, you’re making a commitment to yourself to complete a set task.
If another member is also available, you’ll match!
Your buddy will join your session (lights, camera, action)!
You’ll agree on a goal each and get to work. That’s it!
Tackle your to-do’s while you listen to white noise or chat intermittently; just like you would in an office.
It is called body doubling; ADHD and neurodivergent people really benefit from this kind of collaboration. But if you’re struggling to get things done full stop; chances are you will too.
(Scroll down to dig into the science…)
Oh, and if you had a great time with your buddy, you can add them to your favourites and make it a regular sesh!
Let’s get a little science-y for a moment. The Focus 101 platform approach is based on a few theories:
One of the initial steps to correcting behavior you are not happy with through CBT is to make yourself accountable to someone. Getting a buddy helps you do this if you’re struggling to complete tasks.
If you are neurodivergent, with body doubling, ADHD or autistic people can find comfort and more easily stay on task if someone else is present. Just having someone ‘in the room’ might help you remain focused.
Once you agree with your buddy what your goals are for the session, it’s a lot easier to keep your word. That’s because most of us are programmed to avoid letting others down and it is a powerful motivator.
I had a great experience collaborating with my session partner. We discussed our objectives before starting and remained focused throughout. It was surprising to realize that 30 minutes had passed when the session timer alerted us with only 3 minutes left.
All it costs you is a few minutes and registration couldn’t be easier.
After registration, you just need to fill in your name and a few other details, like timezone, a profile photo to make you more personable. Then you’re set and ready to join in and get focused.
Sessions are 30/45/60 minutes. Partners can choose to stay in session for longer if they want.
You can co-work with anyone, anywhere.
Create one, be the creator!
You can register as an organization (that may be a family, a group of friends or an actual business). You get a private environment, and only people in your organisation can co-work with each other.
Make sure to add them to favourites after the session. We’ll send you an email when they create a session so you can be first to book.
In the unlikely event your partner isn’t playing nice, simply close the call and send us up a report. We’ll look into it asap.
You can add them to your ignore list and we won’t pair you again.
